Fortunately, there are a lot of great resources out there for learning it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">hopelessly looking up stuff related to the vaguely named R programming language makes me wish I was a pirate. &#8220;R scripts&#8221; &#8220;R packages&#8221; &#8220;ARR&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 wilkie (@wilkieii) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wilkieii\/status\/706954489937444864\">March 7, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Online Courses<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tryr.codeschool.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Try R at Code School <\/a>&#8212; a nice, interactive intro.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/learn\/r-programming\" target=\"_blank\">R Programming at Coursera <\/a>&#8212; this course is offered as part of the data science specialization, but you can take it all on it&#8217;s own at get a lot out of it. It&#8217;s not amazingly in-depth, but for getting used to R, it&#8217;s a winner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>An alternative interactive course is also hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacamp.com\/courses\/free-introduction-to-r\" target=\"_blank\">Datacamp.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Books<\/h3>\n<p>For a plethora of examples, insights, as well as guidance, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Cookbook-OReilly-Cookbooks-Paul-Teetor\/dp\/0596809158\/\" target=\"_blank\">the R Cookbook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For a more thorough overview, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Everyone-Advanced-Analytics-Graphics-Addison-Wesley\/dp\/0321888030\/\" target=\"_blank\">R for Everyone<\/a> is a nice resource.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To sink your teeth into something more involved, try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Advanced-Chapman-Hall-Hadley-Wickham\/dp\/1466586966\/\" target=\"_blank\">Advanced R<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Code!<\/h3>\n<p>As with almost anything, the best way to learn is to practice (once you know some basics).
